Bank Holiday revellers hit towns across the UK last night, donning some rather unusual outfits as they made the most of their three-day weekend.

From Barbie girls to brides, police officers to prisoners, clubbers took to the streets in an array of costumes to celebrate the start of the summer season.

Although quieter than the night before, city centres were still fairly busy with people heading out to bars and clubs.

In Leeds, a trio of girls dressed up in sparkly fairy outfits as they headed into the city centre for a night of partying.

And the wet weather didn't put a dampener on things, with partygoers using their purses and jackets to keep themselves dry. 

In contrast, a group of guys embodied the characters of Simon, Will, Neil and Jay, better known as The Inbetweeners from the Channel 4 sitcom, as they posed for a photograph during their night out.

Two brave revellers were spotted wearing full-length gowns for their night out.

Photos show one friend wearing a strappy wedding dress with lace sleeves and a veil, while her friend fashioned a beautiful black gown reminiscent of Audrey Hepburn's style. 

Many of the revellers were taking on the Otley Run, a mammoth 16-venue pub crawl that stretches across the West Yorkshire city. 

In another photograph, one reveller can be seen reaching for her cowgirl hat as she dressed up as Jessie from Toy Story.

Elsewhere in the UK, the weird and wonderful outfits continued.

In Nottingham, a group of friends donned matching tennis kits and blonde wigs as they wandered around the city centre laughing and chatting.

Saturday seemed the right time for a night out, as the deterioriating weather made plans a little more difficult on Sunday. 

In County Durham, it was a complete washout on Sunday, as people were seen waddling back to their homes with rain showers causing flash flooding across the region.

Showers are expected for the next few days, with hail and thunder predicted in some parts of England and Scotland.

A yellow weather warning for rain remains in place today, with drier conditions possible in parts of Wales, Northern Ireland and south-west England this  afternoon. 

Forecaster Kathryn Chalk said: 'There could be some disruption, especially for people travelling or out trying to enjoy the bank holiday weekend.

'So I'd say definitely keep an eye out on that. Some southern areas of England may also see a few heavy downpours, perhaps even the odd rumble of thunder as well.'

She added: 'It's just a more unsettled weather regime where the air's unstable and with more heating in the land it helps develop a storm.'
